"There was and there was not, as all stories begin, a princess cursed to be poisonous to the touch. But for Soraya, who has lived her life hidden away, apart from her family, safe only in her gardens, it’s not just a story.
As the day of her twin brother’s wedding approaches, Soraya must decide if she’s willing to step outside of the shadows for the first time. Below in the dungeon is a demon who holds knowledge that she craves, the answer to her freedom. And above is a young man who isn’t afraid of her, whose eyes linger not with fear, but with an understanding of who she is beneath the poison.
Soraya thought she knew her place in the world, but when her choices lead to consequences she never imagined, she begins to question who she is and who she is becoming...human or demon. Princess or monster."
Review:
Listen, I love a good moth-demon girl as much as the next person, but nothing beats “the only thing that could make you more beautiful to me than you are now is to see you covered in that young man’s blood.” I just about fell out. Best line of the whole book.
And hey that’s saying something because this book was so friggin good! Ugh! So many twists and turns but this story has an ancient feel to it, like it was plucked straight from the stories of Arabian Nights. There are demons and gods and creature beyond human form. There are monsters and humans and you can’t tell which is which, and so many lies that our main character has no choice but to fight with her own.
A truly excellent story about what real power is in my opinion. And WE LOVE LGBT REPRESENTATION!!!! A bisexual queen!!!!! We love to see it. So so so so amazing and so intricately woven in such a short amount of pages but I was reeled in nonetheless!
Definitely a must must MUST read!! As always, let me know your own thoughts and feel down below in the comments and I’ll catch you on the next one!
