The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller (Review #209)

"

They’ve never found the body of the first and only boy who broke my heart. And they never will.

Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen―all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?"

Review:
It has been a long time since I’ve fell in love with a book this much. I devoured this book in a single day, I simply could not put it down. Do I enjoy MC female heroines? Of course I do. But MC female villains????? I would die for them.

Alessandra was one the the rare main characters I’ve come across that I simply adored. It didn’t matter what she was doing, I just wanted to keep reading about her! She was witty and clever, a viper unlike any other. She knew her power and never shrank away from it.

This was simply too phenomenal. I messed around and got addicted. I enjoyed every page of this book. I do wish she’d won a bar fight though *wink wink*. But seriously, the only flaw of this book was making it YA. DAMN YOU FADE-TO-BLACK SCENES!!!!

I don’t think I’ll recover from this for a bit, but please let me know your own thoughts and feels down below in the comments while I’m on bed rest.

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian (Review #29)

"Lillia has never had any problems dealing with boys who like her. Not until this summer, when one went too far. No way will she let the same thing happen to her little sister. Kate is tired of the rumors, the insults, the cruel jokes. It all goes back to one person - her ex-best friend - and she's ready to make her pay. Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she's not the same girl anymore. And she's ready to prove it to him. Three very different girls who want the same thing: sweet, sweet revenge. And they won't stop until they've each had a taste." Review: This book was FAN-TAS-TIC!! I am not for the petty popular girl books, and this is definitely not one of those books. The revenge you wish you got on the person who double-crossed you is finally let loose in one of the best and most inventive ways, and the ending left me jaw-dropped. This is a book everyone should have on their shelf.
