Ember Queen by Laura Sebastian (Review #200)

I cannot believe we've made it to 200 books! And just in time for the new year! I am so proud of how far we've come on this page and I will continue to do my best on reading and writing the reviews my viewers want to see! Cheers to the next 100 posts and the 100 after that!

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN THIS FAR IN THE ASH PRINCESS TRILOGY, STOP NOW. DO NOT READ. THIS IS BOOK 3. CHECK OUT ASH PRINCESS FOR THE REVIEW OF BOOK 1, AND CHECK OUT LADY SMOKE FOR BOOK 2!

"Princess Theodosia was a prisoner in her own country for a decade. Renamed the Ash Princess, she endured relentless abuse and ridicule from the Kaiser and his court. But though she wore a crown of ashes, there is fire in Theo’s blood. As the rightful heir to the Astrean crown, it runs in her veins. And if she learned nothing else from her mother, she learned that a Queen never cowers.

Now free, with a misfit army of rebels to back her, Theo must liberate her enslaved people and face a terrifying new enemy: the new Kaiserin. Imbued with a magic no one understands, the Kaiserin is determined to burn down anyone and everything in her way.

The Kaiserin’s strange power is growing stronger, and with Prinz Søren as her hostage, there is more at stake than ever. Theo must learn to embrace her own power if she has any hope of standing against the girl she once called her heart’s sister."

Review:
This was an epic conclusion to an epic trilogy. From beginning to end, this series has been one of the best rides I've been on in a long time. Sebastian does an excellent job portraying these characters in a time of war, with harsh realities along with small moments of happiness.

Theo has been by far the best part for me. As Blaise said, for better or worse, she puts Astrea above all else. She made the hard choices, she had a cunning, strategic mind, and she brought everything she had into every battle.

Her relationship with Cress was also very interesting. What started as a friendship during Theo's captivity, bloomed into a grotesque and horrid flower, only ever meant to end in death. Those two, despite this all ending with their impending showdown, still held each other in their hearts. It was a weakness in both of them, but only one could overcome it.

Overall, this has been an excellent read and I am satisfied with how it closed, despite a few loose tears. Devastating, but a devastation that was inevitable. If you haven't picked up this series by now (cheater), I highly suggest you do. A YA series for the books!

Thanks for reading with me! As always, leave your thoughts and feels down below in the comments, and I can't wait for our next adventure!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Review #20)

"Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can. She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is. She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong." Review: This is a book you simply have to read. It's probably a part of my top ten favorite books list. Mara is this girl who just lost her friends and boyfriend in a terrible, but also peculiar, accident and now people who tick her off - and who she's attracted to (cough-cough-Noah-cough-cough) - are in her powerful line of fire... It's a tantalizing tale that will have you (for a lack of a better cliche) gripping the edge of your seat!!

Antigoddess by Kendare Blake (Review #141)

"Old Gods never die.. or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health. Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra - an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god. These days, Cassandra doesn't involve herself in the business of gods - in fact, she doesn't even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning. Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with others of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these antigods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caric...

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen (Review #34)

"Ever since her parents' divorce, Auden has been unable to sleep. She's built a routine that gets her through each night; but when the opportunity comes for her to spend her summer at the beach with her father and his new family, she jumps at the chance to break out of her rut. Life at the beach proves more challenging than Auden expects. In addition to trying to figure out how she fits in to her father's new life, she also has to navigate the girls at work with their gossip and friendship and crushes. And then there's Eli, a fellow insomniac who becomes her nocturnal tour guide. With an endless supply of long summer nights between them, almost anything can happen...." Review: I was a Sarah Dessen - virgin. This was my first time reading her work and it was inexhaustibly fantastic. I couldn't put it down. literally I stayed up all night reading this novel, maybe just how Dessen wanted me to. that is why I'm writing this at such an ungodly hour. Wh...
