Review:
Here's your warning: I will be cursing.
First of all...no. Absolutely not. This is an outrage.
I should've known that a book published 10 years ago was going to be chock full of toxic behavior but I was ill prepared. Our main character, Miss Haven, you dumb bitch. This girl never ONCE had an original thought. She believed everything everyone told her, switching sides like this was MUSICAL FUCKING CHAIRS. Complete strangers coming up to her in broad daylight saying all this nonsense and she believes them without even BLINKING. It was so annoying, I lost count of how many times I launched this book across the room.
Secondly, there's Iain. To begin, who the fuck spells Iain like that??? I know that this type of guy was the craze of the time, so I can't be too mad about it, but the dude lied every chance he got, was extremely possessive and controlling, and we're supposed to accept he's the good guy?? Hold the god damn phone.
Now, let's talk about Haven and Iain's relationship. They took the trope insta-love to new heights in this book and it made me so uncomfortable. Look, I get it, y'all have been together over many lifetimes. But homeboy was sucking face with this girl mere MINUTES upon meeting. I was looking like...I-is this allowed??? Should I call the police???
I was so frustrated with this entire thing, but I finished this in less than two days. We were on a journey and I wanted to know how it ended, it just so happened I had a terrible driver at the wheel of the story. AND THE END LEFT US WITH A CLIFFHANGER!!! I - *sigh* I am so TIRED. I'm gonna have to read the sequel and I'm so upset about it. I don't know how to end this review, just please don't fall down this rabbit hole. Leave this book ALONE!
I guess gimme your thoughts and feels, I just can't handle this TOMFOOLERY.
