Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra - an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.
These days, Cassandra doesn't involve herself in the business of gods - in fact, she doesn't even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.
Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with others of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these antigods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get because immortals don't just flicker out.
Every one of them dies in their own way, Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.
The Goddess War is about to begin."
Review:
Hold on while I dry my tears....
I AM A WRECK!!!! A WRECK I TELL YOU!!!
Anyways. I picked this up because I’ve read Kendare Blake’s previous books Anna Dressed in Blood, and Girl of Nightmares. And another author or hits a home run once again. YAS GURL!
What a read. It was so cool to read some great Greek legends come together for another epic tale. We see gods who never left and the reincarnations of past heroes and victims. We meet Athena and Hermès, slowly dying some gruesome ways trying to stop it however they can; Cassandra and Aidan, one with a big blazing secret, the other a reincarnated human from a past battle!! Also Odysseus comes along for the ride!
I was here for it. And who do you ask is the gang up against??? Only Aphrodite, Poseidon, and Hera. NO BIG DEAL. They’re only LEVELING SKYSCRAPERS on their way over!!!!!
We see gods coming to terms with mortality and not handling it well in the slightest, reincarnated humans that may or may not know what the hell is going on, and all the while we got Demeter telling us we have to find a weapon, & Cassandra having visions of gruesome deaths and destruction.
AND THE BATTLE WE’VE BEEN BUILDING UP TO. OOF. Amazing. Henry and Andie fighting like CHAMPS! An underwater battle! AND RIGHT BEFORE HERA SHOWS UP.
O. M. G.
I can’t spoil it for you but yeah... and then the epilogue fucking murdered my heart. I am so glad I started this trilogy and I can’t wait to pick up the next one! Miss Blake killed it once again!!!
