Review:
I have mixed feelings about this one. It started out amazing, the thrills of an unknown year, a tough military skill set, and a mutilated body. Amazing.
For the most part, the mystery portion mingled with the flashbacks was amazing, we loved to see it. But I like a bit of romantic tension sprinkled in my stories. This was not that. For our first romantic interest (if you even want to refer to him as that) Nils, Kellen showed absolutely zero interest in him, to which he interpreted as “lemme just randomly ask to kiss you” or “lemme just kiss her without consent.” While Kellen brushed each of these off and moved on I was like WHAT IS WITH THIS DUDE.
And then Max. I was ready for him to take the reins and sweep Kellen off her feet, or be the killer, either way I’d be happy. And while I KNEW who the killer was, I was proud of myself for that even though it was so friggin' obvious, I was not expecting to go head to head with Kellen’s past this soon. The battle with the killer? Child’s play. The battle with a villain from her past? LEGENDARY.
My beef with this book lies in the ending plot twist. Without giving anything away, I’ll just say when I found I was like “oh... great” like NO. No offense but that’s so bogus. I don't know. It’s my own personal prejudice I think because I never want any of my characters to have this happen to them so whatever. WHATEVER.
