Review:
Oh. My. God. I loved this! 


This was so dirty and grimy and downright scoundrellian (I just made that word up), it was too delectable to resist! I adored our MC Nina aka the Black Cat. She was fierce and fearless and just so friggin amazing to root for. At every turn, her mother the City has taken from Nina, leaving her more and more wounded. And yet, Nina never gave up. 

And best of all, we got not one, not two, but THREE love interests and the drama was so fun. Because too, the last thing on Nina’s mind is romance, and frankly she has enough on her plate without it. But it was still so great. I was team Death Dealer all the way, in case you were wondering.


For those who picked this up in hopes it’s another Six of Crows situation, it’s not. This is not that, so you’ve been warned. This was historical fiction meets criminal underbelly meets fantasy revolution. And it ends perfectly in my opinion. Nothing is truly finished and everything is still kind of open ended. We are left in the aftermath of complete bloodshed and ruthlessness and honestly, good for her. That’s exactly how her story should end. Messy and bloody and unapologetic.

I am not for the petty popular girl books, and this is definitely not one of those books. The revenge you wish you got on the person who double-crossed you is finally let loose in one of the best and most inventive ways, and the ending left me jaw-dropped. This is a book everyone should have on their shelf.
