Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian (Review #29)

"Lillia has never had any problems dealing with boys who like her. Not until this summer, when one went too far. No way will she let the same thing happen to her little sister. Kate is tired of the rumors, the insults, the cruel jokes. It all goes back to one person - her ex-best friend - and she's ready to make her pay. Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she's not the same girl anymore. And she's ready to prove it to him. Three very different girls who want the same thing: sweet, sweet revenge. And they won't stop until they've each had a taste." Review: This book was FAN-TAS-TIC!! I am not for the petty popular girl books, and this is definitely not one of those books. The revenge you wish you got on the person who double-crossed you is finally let loose In one of the best and most inventive ways, and the ending left me jaw-dropped. This is a book everyone should have on their shelf.

The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore (Review #27)

"Sylvie Davis is a ballerina who can't dance. A broken leg ended her career - but Sylvie's pain runs deeper. What broke her heart was her father's death, and what's breaking her spirit is her mother's remarriage. Uprooting her from their Manhattan apartment and shipping her off to Alabama is her mother's solution for Sylvie's unhappiness. her father's cousin is restoring a family home in a town rich with her family's history. As it turns out, the Davises have a richer history than Sylvie ever imagined. More unnerving, though, are the two guys she can't stop thinking about. Shawn Maddox, the resident golden boy, seems perfect in every way. But Rhys, a handsome, mysterious foreign guest of her cousin's, has a hold on Sylvie that she doesn't quite understand. Then Sylvie starts seeing things. A girl down by the lake. A man peering into the window. And a graveyard with an oddly placed headstone. Sylvie has lost nearly everything

When she discovers he's seeing someone new - Taylor Deen - she's devastated. Yet also curious. What does Taylor have that she doesn't? A lot, according to the Internet. Before long, Carly's risking everything to get closer to Taylor, the seemingly perfect girl with the seemingly perfect life. How do you know when you've crossed the line between interest and obsession? And, once you've crossed it, can you ever go back?" Review: This book had an interesting framework, in some way

Hades by Alexandra Adornetto (Review #24)

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT:  IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN THIS FAR IN THE HALO SERIES, STOP NOW. DO NOT READ. THIS IS BOOK 2. CHECK OUT MY REVIEW ON BOOK 1,  HALO ! "Bethany Church is an angel sent to Earth to keep dark forces at bay. Falling in love was never part of her mission, but the bond between Beth and her mortal boyfriend, Xavier Woods, is undeniably strong. But even Xavier’s love, and the care of her archangel siblings, Gabriel and Ivy, can’t keep Beth from being tricked into a motorcycle ride that ends up in Hell. There, the demon Jake Thorn bargains for Beth’s release back to Earth. But what he asks of her will destroy her, and quite possibly, her loved ones, as well." Review: Alexandra Adornetto does not disappoint with this sequel. I loved this book from beginning to end. The book is set in a place no angel has been before and I thought that with her being in Hell would limit us from seeing the progress of Xavier, Gabriel and Ivy in saving her. Fortunately, Al

Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omololu (Review #23)

"From the outside, Lucy's home looks normal. The secrets are all on the inside: Towering piles of newspapers and magazines. Bags of junk flooding every inch of open space. A rotting smell permeating the air. This is the awful truth she's kept hidden - that her mother's hoarding has overwhelmed their lives with garbage and shame. With only two years until graduation, Lucy plans on maintaining the lies until it's her turn for a normal life, one where she can be honest with her friends... And maybe even have a boyfriend. But when she comes home one morning to find a situation she might not be able to cover up, Lucy must make a decision. Should she finally tell the truth? Or find a way to keep their secret forever?" Review: When I first opened the pages to this book it held a lot of promise. And, in some ways, it did surprise me. But in others, it failed to keep me interested. I was eager to see if anyone would discover Lucy's secret but the book mostly con

Fallen by Lauren Kate (Review #21)

"There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at Sword & Cross boarding school in Savannah. He's the one bright spot in a place where cellphones are forbidden, the other students are screw ups, and security cameras watch every move. Except Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce - he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to the flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret... even if it kills her." Review: This was like a combination of Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and Halo by Alexandra Adornetto. Both very well written, and this book does not disappoint. Not only did it catch my attention with Luce's inner demons, but the romance added to the combination and the supernatural aspect made the story all the while. This is a recommendation you must accept. I

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Review #20)

"Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can. She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed. There is. She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love. She's wrong." Review: This is a book you simply have to read. It's probably a part of my top ten favorite books list. Mara is this girl who just lost her friends and boyfriend in a terrible, but also peculiar, accident and now people who tick her off - and who she's attracted to (cough-cough-Noah-cough-cough) - are in her powerful line of fire... It's a tantalizing tale that will have you (for a lack of a better cliche) gripping the edge of your seat!!

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter (Review #18)

"Every girl who has taken the test has died. Now it's Kate's turn. It's always been just Kate and her mom - and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's gonna start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall. Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld - and if she accepts his bargain, he will keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests. Kate is sure he's crazy - until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess. If she fails..." Review: This book was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I love how the author portrayed Hades (Henry) as the good guy, romantic interest. I was definitely surprised by who ended up being the villain and all the ot

Until I Die by Amy Plum (Review #19)

SPOILER ALERT: THIS IS BOOK 2 IN THE REVENANTS SERIES. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS FAR STOP NOW AND CHECK OUT MY REVIEW OF  DIE FOR ME ! "I wish there was only today, just right now, and no forever. It seems fitting that I fell in love in Paris. Peel back a thin layer of reality and under the city's glamorous surface is a battleground for immortal enemies. Because with Vincent, reality is an illusion. Handsome, chivalrous, and witty, he's got everything I've ever wanted in a boyfriend... except mortality. But when I chose Vincent, I chose love over reason and safety. Vincent swore to avoid death - to resist his very nature so we can be together. But I refuse to stand by and watch him suffer. I know I'll do whatever it takes - even if it means lying to the people I love - to fight against a fate that is trying to tear us apart." Review: This sequel did not disappoint. Like all sequels, they are never as good as the first. However, that doesn't me

Poison Princess by Kresley Cole (Review #17)

"Sixteen-year-old Evie Greene's horrific hallucinations predicted the apocalypse, and the end of the world brought her all sorts of new powers. With the earth scorched and few survivors, Evie teams up with handsome and dangerous Jack Deveaux in a race to find answers. They discover that Evie is not the only one with special...gifts. And it's not always clear who is using their talents for good or evil." Review: I'm not one for apocalyptic stories, but this is an exception. I love the tie-in with tarot cards, and the fact that I don't know whether Evie is good or evil. I cannot wait for the upcoming sequel. The ending was a huge surprise and I guarantee you will love it too!!

Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter (Review #15)

"One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls - a camp for troubled teens - and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren't just "troubled." Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, witches, and fairies train side by side, learning to harness their powers, control their magic, and live in the normal world. Kylie's never felt normal, but surely she doesn't belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks, either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn't complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek's a half Fae who's determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin' hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Derek and Lucas couldn't be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her hear

Die for Me by Amy Plum (Review #14)

"My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything. Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were moving to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my life would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent. Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, he put me in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen...until I realized that Vincent Delacroix is no normal human - that he has a terrifying destiny and enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind. Can I risk everything for love?" Review: This book was really good. Similar to the Vampire Stalker, I thought I was in for another cliche vampire book, but I was completely wrong. No vampires, I promise, but a new immortal race that are to die for (a pun you'll understand if you read). I definitely recommend this book and I will jump right into the sequel!!

Willow by Julia Hoban (Review #13)

"Seven months ago, on a rainy March night, Willow's parents drank too much at dinner and asked her to drive them home. But they never made it - Willow lost control of the car, and both of her parents were killed. Now the only way she knows how to survive and control the pain is by secretly cutting herself. But when Willow meets Guy, a boy as sensitive and complicated as she is, she finds it hard to keep the secret that's written all over her body." Review: This book is the best book I've ever read and my most treasured possession. I was reluctant to post this as a review because this book touched me in the most personal, intimate and vulnerable way that it's hard for me to share it with the world. However, this book was not meant to reach out to just one person. That is why I am sharing it. I compel you to read this book if you are currently a cutter, suicidal, or just plain depressed. It will help. I know, because it helped me. This is also the only book t
