To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven."
Review:
Alright, let me blunt, I’ve not heard a single positive review of this book. So I didn’t begin this with an optimistic mindset. However I think in the end, it was a decent sequel.
The first half of the book drags for sure. The longer they stay in their encampment, the more frustrated I grew for them to leave and begin the mission. A lot of the side characters didn’t really hold my interest for very long either and sometimes I forgot them altogether.
Once we start our journey back to the capital, that’s when things became interesting. The circus troupe was so much fun to be a part of and I really liked Claud.
The ending was nothing short of suspenseful, and even though I knew who Coco’s vision was talking about, I think it still had an impact when it happened. And the ending with La Voisin????? Juicy.
One final note, this is adult fantasy and I’ve seen a few reviews calling this serious spicy??? It’s not. Some *adult* things happen but it’s not spicy at all, it’s mild at best.
