My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite (Review #186)

"When Korede's dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what's expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This'll be the third boyfriend Ayoola's dispatched in, quote, self-defense and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away. She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always comes first. Until, that is, Ayoola starts dating the doctor where Korede works as a nurse. Korede's long been in love with him, and isn't prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back: but to save one would mean sacrificing the other..."

Review:
WOW! What a fantastic read. We've got two sisters with such a complex dynamic, and bodies dropping faster than we can (or Korede) can keep up with. Then the one man Korede harbors feelings for goes and dates her psychopathic sister which Korede knows won't end well.

First off, the pace of this story was so fantastic. Never once did I feel the story dragging and every moment had its purpose in uncovering the truth behind the lives of these women. The story is contantly telling you that Ayoola is the most interesting, the most beautiful, and most of all the most dangerous of the two sisters, but as we read, Korede has her own bite to her and everyone seems to underestimate her at every turn. 

"There's something wrong with her... but you? What's your excuse?"

Overall, not what I expected but amazing in it's own right. And you know what? Men DO suck. I found for most of the killings I was like "good for her." Guess that means I'm a psycho too...

I am not for the petty popular girl books, and this is definitely not one of those books. The revenge you wish you got on the person who double-crossed you is finally let loose in one of the best and most inventive ways, and the ending left me jaw-dropped. This is a book everyone should have on their shelf.
