"Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire-for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past...
She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return."
Review:
I thoroughly enjoyed this installment. Aelin has matured and is now ready to reclaim her kingdom. I was so nervous about the reunion between her and Chaol, and Dorian, despite Dorian being a possessed demon-man-thing. And I was so happy that Aelin had this amazing support system. Before, her relationships were rocky at best, and none were very trusting. However, by the end, I felt that she had a great team on her side. She did not disappoint with her dastardly plans and surprise plot twists. I also continue to appreciate Manon. She's coming into her own and is starting to have her own sense of identity, which I think will really turn the tides of the war later on, if her Thirteen follow her. Overall, I really enjoyed these characters. There's a lot brewing and though the huge battle is over, the war has just begun...
