The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (Review #77)

Review:
I was quite furious with this book. It was very wishy-washy. The main character, Belly, acted extremely childish, from her pouting to defensive lashes, but wasn't the story supposed to be about her growing up? And this was definitely one of those stories you couldn't pick a favorite (for example, Team Jacob vs. Team Edward). Both boys held almost deal-breaking flaws and heart-breaking perfections. One minute you'd be Team Jeremiah, the next you'd be Team Conrad. And it really didn't make sense when she made her decision. Granted, it was a hard decision to make, but it seemed like she just went eeny-meeny-miney-mo!!! I'm a little upset right now and I read the summary for the sequel and it made me even more upset. GAH.

I am not for the petty popular girl books, and this is definitely not one of those books. The revenge you wish you got on the person who double-crossed you is finally let loose in one of the best and most inventive ways, and the ending left me jaw-dropped. This is a book everyone should have on their shelf.
