"On the night before they leave for college, Clare and Aidan have only one thing left to do: figure out whether they should stay together or break up. Over the course of twelve hours, they retrace the steps of their relationship, trying to find something in their past that might help them decide what their future should be. The night leads them to family and friends, familiar landmarks and unexpected places, hard truths and surprising revelations. But as the clock winds down and morning approaches, so does their inevitable goodbye. The question is, will it be goodbye for now or goodbye forever?"
Review:
Okay so, I've read Jennifer E. Smith before and I loved it. Years later, I've come back to this author and she is still as good as I remember. This book is set over one whole night, a short period of time just like the previous book, and we get a tremendously framed story. We see these two characters facing a hard decision and also going through a big life change along with their friends. And from beginning to end we see huge character development. It was great, and despite the age gap (between me and the characters), I still saw the overall message and it really hit me hard. I understood so much of what they were going through, both from my past and from my current life. I loved to see their relationships with their friends that were also affected by the impending changes as well. And the ending was absolutely perfect in my opinion. It both dealt with the truth of the matter, as well as gave us optimism and hope. Definitely recommend.
