Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian (Review #29)

"Lillia has never had any problems dealing with boys who like her. Not until this summer, when one went too far. No way will she let the same thing happen to her little sister. Kate is tired of the rumors, the insults, the cruel jokes. It all goes back to one person - her ex-best friend - and she's ready to make her pay. Four years ago, Mary left Jar Island because of a boy. But she's not the same girl anymore. And she's ready to prove it to him. Three very different girls who want the same thing: sweet, sweet revenge. And they won't stop until they've each had a taste." Review: This book was FAN-TAS-TIC!! I am not for the petty popular girl books, and this is definitely not one of those books. The revenge you wish you got on the person who double-crossed you is finally let loose In one of the best and most inventive ways, and the ending left me jaw-dropped. This is a book everyone should have on their shelf.

The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore (Review #27)

"Sylvie Davis is a ballerina who can't dance. A broken leg ended her career - but Sylvie's pain runs deeper. What broke her heart was her father's death, and what's breaking her spirit is her mother's remarriage. Uprooting her from their Manhattan apartment and shipping her off to Alabama is her mother's solution for Sylvie's unhappiness. her father's cousin is restoring a family home in a town rich with her family's history. As it turns out, the Davises have a richer history than Sylvie ever imagined. More unnerving, though, are the two guys she can't stop thinking about. Shawn Maddox, the resident golden boy, seems perfect in every way. But Rhys, a handsome, mysterious foreign guest of her cousin's, has a hold on Sylvie that she doesn't quite understand. Then Sylvie starts seeing things. A girl down by the lake. A man peering into the window. And a graveyard with an oddly placed headstone. Sylvie has lost nearly everything

When she discovers he's seeing someone new - Taylor Deen - she's devastated. Yet also curious. What does Taylor have that she doesn't? A lot, according to the Internet. Before long, Carly's risking everything to get closer to Taylor, the seemingly perfect girl with the seemingly perfect life. How do you know when you've crossed the line between interest and obsession? And, once you've crossed it, can you ever go back?" Review: This book had an interesting framework, in some way

Hades by Alexandra Adornetto (Review #24)

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT:  IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN THIS FAR IN THE HALO SERIES, STOP NOW. DO NOT READ. THIS IS BOOK 2. CHECK OUT MY REVIEW ON BOOK 1,  HALO ! "Bethany Church is an angel sent to Earth to keep dark forces at bay. Falling in love was never part of her mission, but the bond between Beth and her mortal boyfriend, Xavier Woods, is undeniably strong. But even Xavier’s love, and the care of her archangel siblings, Gabriel and Ivy, can’t keep Beth from being tricked into a motorcycle ride that ends up in Hell. There, the demon Jake Thorn bargains for Beth’s release back to Earth. But what he asks of her will destroy her, and quite possibly, her loved ones, as well." Review: Alexandra Adornetto does not disappoint with this sequel. I loved this book from beginning to end. The book is set in a place no angel has been before and I thought that with her being in Hell would limit us from seeing the progress of Xavier, Gabriel and Ivy in saving her. Fortunately, Al

Dirty Little Secrets by C.J. Omololu (Review #23)

"From the outside, Lucy's home looks normal. The secrets are all on the inside: Towering piles of newspapers and magazines. Bags of junk flooding every inch of open space. A rotting smell permeating the air. This is the awful truth she's kept hidden - that her mother's hoarding has overwhelmed their lives with garbage and shame. With only two years until graduation, Lucy plans on maintaining the lies until it's her turn for a normal life, one where she can be honest with her friends... And maybe even have a boyfriend. But when she comes home one morning to find a situation she might not be able to cover up, Lucy must make a decision. Should she finally tell the truth? Or find a way to keep their secret forever?" Review: When I first opened the pages to this book it held a lot of promise. And, in some ways, it did surprise me. But in others, it failed to keep me interested. I was eager to see if anyone would discover Lucy's secret but the book mostly con
